Facial Rejuvenation
Constitutional Facial Rejuvenation (CFR)
I learned Constitutional Facial Rejuvenation from Mary Elizabeth Wakefield, who is a pioneer in this field. CFR is sometimes referred to as Face-lift Acupuncture because of its renewing effects on the face. While CFR does not change bone structure, it is a safe, painless and effective treatment to erase fine lines, reduce deeper lines, and firm bags around the neck and eyes.
CFR is a non-invasive procedure that is less costly than surgery. There is no recovery time needed, it’s more like having a day at the spa.
How does CFR work?
Fine needles are placed at a variety of acupuncture points on the face to bring more Qi and blood flow to the area. This improves facial color as well as to stimulate the production of collagen, which improves muscle tone. When the acupuncture points stimulate the muscles, the face lifts itself.
What are the benefits of CFR?
Helps reduce bags and sagging skin.
Helps eliminate fine lines and diminish larger wrinkles.
Improves collagen production and muscle tone.
Helps reduce double chin and lifts drooping eyelids.
Tightens pores and brightens eyes.
Improves metabolism.
Reduces stress and promotes total health and well being.
How long does it take?
The first treatment usually takes about 2 hours. It includes a thorough intake, facial scrubs and herbal masks, facial and body acupuncture, and some toning facial massage. Each follow-up treatment should last about 90 minutes.
To receive the best results, you need to do a session once a week for 10 to 15 weeks. People who smoke or whose skin tends to sag may need to do up to 20 weeks. The results after completion of a facial acupuncture series can last up to two the three years.
It is recommended to do booster treatments to maintain the results for the maximum length of time. Once every two weeks for 2 months, then once a month indefinitely seem to work the best.
After the initial treatment, you can expect to feel very relaxed and your face seems to “glow”. Bigger results (reduction of wrinkles…etc) are usually seen at about the fifth to the seventh treatment. These results can vary depending on lifestyle factors such as smoking and drinking, or for people whose skin tends to sag.
Contraindications
-Severe high blood pressure (It’s ok when the blood pressure is under control and the patient is under the supervision of a medical doctor)
-Severe migraines (If the patient is having migraines only once every 3 months or so they can receive facial acupuncture)
-Be aware that it takes 3 weeks to recover from laser resurfacing on the face, and one week to recover from microdermabrasion.
